Course Overview

Our 2 day ‘confined space entry’ course offers additional units to those included in our basic 1 day course and provides the successful participant a greater depth of knowledge of working in confined spaces along with a qualification to supervise others in confined space operations. Training is conducted by highly experienced and knowledgeable trainers and successful participants will finish the course feeling confident to carry out a risk assessment, identify confined space hazards, work safely within confined spaces according to an issued permit, operate various safety equipment within the confined space, issue work permits and test for gas.

Confined space refresher training is recommended every 12-24 months under Australian Standard AS2865-2009.

Course Outline
  • Assessment & preparation for confined space entry
  • Check preparations against the permit conditions
  • Identify and assess work covered by the permit
  • Check the correct permit has been issued for the type of work to be carried out
  • Select, prepare and correctly use all necessary safety equipment and PPE
  • Undertake the work strictly in accordance with the provisions of the permit
  • Maintain correct housekeeping with permit activities
  • Complete work in compliance with the permit requirements
  • Take appropriate action if the scope of work/nature of the tools to be used differs from that covered by the permit
  • Handing back the permit in accordance with procedures and obtaining appropriate sign off as required.
  • Maintain, recover, clean, service and store equipment
  • Prepare for gas testing

  • Plan and prepare for risk control
  • Assess and identify unacceptable risk
  • Identify, assess and implement risk treatments
  • Completion of records, reports and final documentation where required
